Urban Roadtrip

What happens when your friend just starts work at Anthropology and has a 40% off discount?
Road trip an hour east to the nearest Urban Outfitters? Yes. We did just that.

The two of us have been fantasizing about this moment for weeks. Waiting until her manager finally handed out the beautiful URBN cards so we could frolic around the stores knowing everything was 40% off. I didn't buy anything on sale. What a life.

You may find yourself asking, how is this a thing? Why does working at Anthropology (a rich old lady store) mean the employees get a discount on Free People and Urban Outfitters. To answer your question, Anthropology is owned by the same company (URBN) as Free People and Urban Outfitters.
My friend had no clue. So when she found out, we swore we would venture to East Lansing the day she got her card. This Urban is one of the best ones I've been to. It has two floors (top-full price and bottom-sale price). Not only are the clothes amazing, but the layout and design of the entire store makes me get the warm fuzzes. I ended up getting a black and white flowery sundress (shown below), a grey flowy blouse with shoulder cut-outs, and a dark grey lacy bralette. I snook a few pictures as my friend payed for our clothes with her discount. Don't worry I paid her back.

Hope you enjoyed reading about my little spontaneous adventure. Have a good one.

Benefit vs Benefit?

One of my favorite brands. Both amazing products. But is one better than the other?

Benefit recently released Roller Lash- a mascara that grips and curls your lashes to perfection. Before this product was released however, I was stuck in love with a different Benefit mascara- "They're Real!" I didn't think it could get any better... This mascara did everything I ever wanted. It curls, lengthens, and was easy to apply! I noticed my lashes grew longer and more prominent with just one swipe. However, there was one downfall. I was constantly scrubbing my lashes to get this long wearing product off (RIP lost lashes). If I smudged this mascara on my skin, (which I do quite often because early mornings) it took a long time to rub off even with remover. Although it is a wonderful mascara, it is a pain. As if the Benefit Gods heard my cries each night as I scrubbed away, they brought out the "Roller Lash". This mascara does everything the "They're Real" mascara did and more!! I love the applicator- it has varying lengths of brussels that catches and curls the lashes. It is easier to remove the accidental smudges on skin, but still sticks to lashes in every condition. This mascara lifts my lashes back and noticeably opens up my eyes. I tend to pick up this mascara over the other one now. It is lighter and easier to work with.

Going on a night out and want to have amazing lashes? Here's a tip: apply "Roller Lash" to curl your lashes and then apply "They're Real!" to lengthen and for a long lasting effect!

Which one do you prefer?

Hope you enjoyed this little post! Thanks for reading.

Newfound Obsession

While browsing tumblr, I discovered a band I cannot stop obsessing over. Bad Suns is a California based alternative rock band. The band consists of Cristo Bowman (vocals), Gavin Bennett (bass), Miles Morris (drums) and Ray Libby (guitar). The sound is inspired by 70's and 80's post-punk bands like The Cure and The Clash. When I first heard them, I thought they sounded like a mix between 5 Seconds of Summer and The 1975.

"how do i grasp reality? when i don't have an identity" -salt

Bad Suns have an EP called Transpose and an album called Language and Perspective. The EP has some of my favorite songs of theirs which also happen to be their hit singles. Salt and Cardiac Arrest are two of my favorites as well as We Move Like the Ocean. This band is different from all the others. They care about their sound more than anything. Not that they're lacking physically. They all tend to wear dark colors which makes them seem quite mysterious and sexy. They're music videos are also very inspiring and artistic. The music video for Salt delves into the struggles of a transgender man. We Move Like the Ocean is a video inspired by the beaches of LA in the 80's. I love how this band isn't afraid to push their boundaries and this is why I think they will get big.

"high voltage in her lips, they catch me when i slip" -cardiac arrest

Their music makes me feel better no matter what time of day it is. It is the perfect mixture of up-tempo and relaxed beats. I haven't found a band that I love like I love this one in such a long time. I feel inspired by them and what they stand for. All I can say is that I can't wait to hear them live and hopefully they will come out with some new songs in the next few months.

Hope you enjoyed reading and check out this sick band if you're in need of some new songs to add to your list.

Lots of love,

Spring Lips

My friend and I invaded the beauty department of Target last week and I discovered these beautiful lipsticks. I picked up these two- 745 Peach Poppy and 670 Ravishing Rose from the Maybelline Color Sensational collection. These gorgeous shades are quite balmy. They have a light consistency which is great for neutral make-up on a spring day! However, you can make a very pigmented and bold lip if you desire. I tend to use these lightly on my lips, just to add a pop of color. These are just a few of the shades that Maybelline had to offer. They also had some amazing red, vivid, and nude collections. These two shades will do for now as they are bright and perfect for spring/summer makeup.

Thanks for reading and check out these lipsticks at Target or any drugstore!

Lots of love,

Megs
